A rad home isn’t super expensive or fancy or particularly styled. It’s just that they’re comfy and nice and make you feel comfy and nice too. That’s the vibe I got when I walked into the home of Kawaiian Lion founder Dee Tang on the Northern Beaches. It was small things (nooks decorated with cactus and crystals), but it was big things too: bold wallpaper (that’s actually a safe bet once you get your head around the idea), giant cushions, toilet paper rolls suspended from an old skateboard deck. Anyways, why don’t you come and have a good old sticky beak yourself…
FAKE A RAD HOME TIP #1: ROCK SOME WALLPAPER
Donec pede justo, fringilla vel, aliquet nec, vulputate eget, arcu. In enim justo, rhoncus ut, imperdiet a, venenatis vitae, justo. Nullam dictum felis eu pede mollis pretium. Integer tincidunt. Cras dapibus. Vivamus elementum semper nisi. Aenean vulputate eleifend tellus. Aenean leo ligula, porttitor eu, consequat vitae, eleifend ac, enim.
FAKE A RAD HOME TIP #2: JUMBLE DIFFERENT TEXTURES
Seriously, how inviting does that chair look? It’s the jumble of different colours and textures that makes you want to dive right in. My first instinct would be to go all matchy matchy with my cushions and quilts and things. But I think this looks way better. Bonus points for using a patchwork or crochet that your gran made!
FAKE A RAD HOME TIP #3: DECORATE WITH CRYSTAL & CACTUS
Some things just go together: coffee and milk. Brad and Angelina. Crystals and cactuses. There’s just something so indie rad about the colours and textures that lends your place this Kinfolk via Coachella cool. (Never read Kinfolk or been to Coachella like me? Shhhhhh…. that’s our little secret)
FAKE A RAD HOME TIP #4: HANG SHIT UP & USE STORAGE SACKS
Again, I think this one speaks for itself.
FAKE A RAD HOME TIP #5: PLUG IN A NEON SIGN
They’re cool. And way more affordable than you think.
